The sprayer collection at Farm Suppliez covers two related but distinct jobs — liquid spraying (herbicides, pesticides, fertilizer, water) and dry application (talc, feed and forage additives, herbicide and pesticide pellets, row crop applicators). Products from three brands that specialize in this work: NorthStar, Gandy Company, and FIMCO.

Liquid sprayers

• Tow-behind boom sprayers — NorthStar 61-gallon (5.5 GPM, 12V) and 101-gallon (7.0 GPM, 12V) trailer boom sprayers for broadcast and spot work behind a tractor, UTV, or ATV

If you're spraying small plots or fencelines, the FIMCO 15-gallon is the right tool. For multi-acre pasture and crop work, the NorthStar tow-behind 61 or 101-gallon boom sprayers cover ground efficiently. For commercial-scale spraying or transferring between fields, a skid sprayer mounted in a truck bed or on a trailer is what you want.

Dry applicators

Gandy Company makes ground-driven applicators that meter dry products precisely — important when you're applying expensive inputs like herbicide pellets, feed additives, or talc for grain handling. Our Gandy lineup includes:

• Feed/Forage Additive Applicator (45 lb and 100 lb) — for adding additives during feed handling
• Row Crop Herbicide/Pesticide Applicator (45 lb and 100 lb) — band or in-furrow application for row crop work
• Talc Applicator (45 lb and 100 lb) — for grain handling and conditioning

The 45 lb and 100 lb sizes refer to hopper capacity. 45 lb is enough for smaller passes or single-row work; 100 lb keeps you in the field longer on larger operations.

How to choose

Match the equipment to the job:

• Acreage — 5 acres needs different equipment than 500 acres
• Tank or hopper size — bigger = fewer refills but more weight to pull or carry
• Application type — boom for broadcast, spot for targeted, applicator for dry products

What's the difference between a boom sprayer and a spot sprayer?

A boom sprayer has a wide spray bar (the "boom") that lays down spray across a multi-foot swath as you drive — ideal for broadcasting herbicide or fertilizer across pasture or row crops. A spot sprayer uses a handheld wand for targeted application to individual weeds, brush patches, or fencelines. Many sprayers (including the NorthStar tow-behinds) do both — broadcast through the boom and spot via a handgun outlet.

Can I tow a NorthStar boom sprayer behind an ATV or UTV?

Yes — the NorthStar 61-gallon and 101-gallon tow-behind boom sprayers are designed to be towed behind ATVs, UTVs, garden tractors, lawn tractors, and compact tractors. They use a standard pintle or ball hitch and run off a 12V power source.

What's a Gandy applicator used for?

Gandy applicators meter dry materials — herbicide pellets, pesticide granules, talc, fertilizer, feed additives — at a precise rate as you drive or as material flows through. They mount on planters, drills, augers, conveyors, and equipment carts. They're a specialized tool used by row crop operators, feedlots, and grain handlers.

What size sprayer do I need for my acreage?

Rough rule of thumb: under 5 acres, a 15-gallon ATV sprayer or backpack is plenty. 5–40 acres, look at a 60-gallon tow-behind boom. 40+ acres of regular spraying, a 100-gallon tow-behind or a 200-gallon skid sprayer is more efficient. The right size also depends on how often you refill and how far your water source is.

Are these sprayers built for chemical compatibility?

NorthStar and FIMCO sprayers ship with chemical-resistant tanks, hoses, and seals rated for most common agricultural chemicals (Roundup, 2,4-D, dicamba, etc.). Always check the chemical's label for material compatibility and rinse the sprayer thoroughly between uses. We can advise on specific chemistries if you're unsure.
